Information for the Public

Healthmail is a secure clinical email system for health care providers. The initial implementation in November 2014 was for GPs and their support staff however it is now being extended to all health care professionals in primary care. Healthmail is configured to be easy to use and will improve electronic communications to the benefit of patients and clinicians.

To be eligible for a Healthmail account you need to be a healthcare provider such as a GP or a registered community pharmacy. GPs must be registered with the Irish Medical Council and attached to a practice in Ireland. GPs can also provide subsidiary accounts to their practice support staff. A community pharmacy and its supervising pharmacist must be registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI). Healthmail accounts are not available to the public but the Healthmail service will benefit patients by improving communications within the health care community in a private and secure manner.

If you are looking for general information about Healthmail or you want to connect your healthcare organisation to secure clinical email, please contact the Healthmail Operations Manager karina.hull@ehealthireland.ie.
